Do you know one of the japanese festival “Children’s day”?

Children’s Day is one of Japan’s national holidays. This is celebrated on May 5th every year.

It is other called “Tango no Sekku”

This festival is celebrate children’s growth, happiness, and prosperity.

In the past, it was celebrated separately as Children’s Day (May 5) for boys and Girls’ Day (March 3) for girls.
Nowadays, there is a widespread trend to celebrate regardless of gender.

The day when many people raise the carp-shaped streamers is called “Koinobori” in Japanese.

This season is you can see many color Carp swim in the sky.

There color has means.
The black carp represents the father, red represents mother and blue carp represents the child.

They eat “Chimaki” and “Kashiwamochi” made from sticky rice during that day.

“Chimaki” is rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaves. There is not sweet taste.

“Kashiwamochi” is japanese sweets.
Rice cake wrapped in oak leaves with sweet azuki beans inside.

There has means prosperity for the descendants of the family and also serve as a protective charm.
