Ginzan Onsen is one of the most famous hot spring resorts in Japan!

Perhaps some of you have seen them in Japanese promotions, etc.

Located is Obanazawa City, Yamagata Prefecture.

It became famous in Japan as the setting for the NHK TV series "Oshin".

Ryokan (Japanese-style hotel) with multi-story wooden buildings dating from the Taisho and early Showa eras line both banks.

This buildings is really beautiful.

A number of bridges line the river, and there are gas lamps that were used in the past.

I think there are few with this kind of architecture in various parts of the country.

The atmosphere changes depending on the season and time of day.
I visited in the summer season.

In summer, you can stroll around the here in yukata (light cotton kimono).
I can go to nearby stores for drinks, buy souvenirs....

In winter, the scenery is a silver world and the atmosphere is fantastic!

You can enjoy both seasons!

Many ryokans feature breakfast and dinner included, hot springs, and snacks and tea in the room!

Do you know why there are sweets and tea in the room?

The reason is hospitality from inn to prevent the risk of getting sick, such as dizzy or fainting, if you enter a hot spring while your blood sugar level is low.

The best part of your stay is the food!

Many inns offer elaborate cuisine.
