How to make cooked Japanese rice?

Japanese rice is an essential part of the Japanese family table.

Japanese rice grains have a higher starch content, you can enjoy a sticky and slightly chewy texture when cooked.

It is going well eat with Tsukemono, Miso soup, and Grilled fish.

Currently, it can be easily made in a rice cooker.

However did you know that you can make it even tastier by using a traditional pot or earthenware pot?

You can make it in a pot you have at home!

1: Wash raw rice.

2:Soak washed rice in soft water for 30 minutes in summer and 1 hour in winter.

3:Transfer soaked rice to a pot and add soft water or cold kelp broth and salt, after that put lid.

4:Turn on medium heat, for about 2 to 3 minutes until you hear a bubbling sound and boil in the pot.
*For electric stoves, the time will be a little longer.

5:After checking for a boil, change the heat from medium to low and simmer for 8-10 minutes.

6:When most of the water in the pot is gone, turn off the heat and steam for 10 to 15 minutes.

7:Using a rice scoop remove the water from the bottom pot.

<Note>

・Do not open the lid from process 3 onward until you are ready to eat.
・If you open the lid during the process, the temperature inside will drop and you will not be able to cook it well.
・If you use a rice cooker instead of a pot, Soak rice in the water, change the soft water to kelp broth, add salt for a better taste!
In the fast cooking mode of the rice cooker, the process of soaking rice in water is not necessary.

More delicias, earthenware pot cooked Japanese rice?

Do you know how to cook rice using an earthenware pot?

In Japan, It is sold rice cookers as a convenience tool.

But I use an earthenware pot when I make cook rice.

When made in an earthenware pot, the texture is fluffier and firmer than in a rice cooker.

The reason is that the temperature rises slowly and does not drop as much after cooking.
Also can you look delicious right?

I think there are not many households in Japan that cook rice in earthenware pots.
However, once you experience earthenware rice cookers, you will never go back to rice cookers!

If you want a deeper Japanese experience in your home, give it a try!
