Lesson Report
Thank you for joining the Petite homestay lesson from Canada! Petite homestay lessons are held in my home studio! My friend Miki and my husband were there to support me on this day! First contact, I have a received request "I’m interested to learn a few quick and easy home dishes that a majority of moms/wives would make for their families. " Before coming to Japan, we decided on the menu together through hearings.
We will make Chicken Miso Donburi Salad with Miso dressing Spinach Ohitashi Donabe Gohan (earthenware pot rice) First, They tasted four different kinds of miso, She did choose two kinds of miso. There are many different tastes and color of Miso. Salty, Sweety, First taste is sweet after taste is salty etc,,, She chose the White miso made in Kyoto and Okame miso (country miso) made in Nara. My recommendation!
Her cooking skills are very good!
She mentioned that she usually cooks with soy sauce and miso.
The dressing for the salad was made to her liking with tastings.
The flavors she suggested were very tasty!
We had a great time comparing how she usually cuts vegetables and how they are cut in Japan!
We also used special seasonings unique to Japan.
Vinegar is not something you can get at the supermarket, but a local product I purchased on my trip.
Instead of salt, I also used shio koji (Salted rice malt).
Of course, the recipe describes using regular vinegar and salt.
She also has a beautiful serving style!
We tasted the food together ….. Well done!
I’m looking forwared to see you again soon in Japan or Canada!
