What is the style of Valentine’s Day in Japan?
Does your culture have a Valentine's Day? There is a somewhat interesting culture associated with Valentine's Day. In your country, who prepares the gifts, the men or the women? In Japan, the event is usually given by a woman to a man (her significant other or lover etc). These days, people tend to give gifts to those they want to give them to, such as their loved ones and those who have taken care of them, regardless of their gender! The gift is... chocolate!
Every year in Japan, chocolates from various countries and patissiers are imported, or people make their own, making it a festival of sorts. Department stores, streets, and even convenience stores will display chocolates that they do not normally carry. Nowadays, some people buy them for their own reward rather than as gifts. So, if I give you a gift on Valentine's Day, why don't you return the gift? Next month, on March 14, we will have White Day. Those who receive gifts are given candy, sweets, flowers, or other gifts in return on White Day. And a confession of love... maybe even a nice surprise! Of course! I gave my husband some homemade chocolate related sweet treats too! I'm looking forward to receiving something in return! Lovely event season in Japan, full of love and chocolate! It really is an exciting season! Have a enjoy your wonderful Valentine season!
